Hudson celebrates 18 years in China

As Hudson China steps into its 18th Anniversary this year, we kicked off our celebrations with two exclusive client events in Beijing and Shanghai.

These events were a wonderful opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the strong relationship we share with our valued clients. As our clients underpin Hudson’s growth and success over the past 18 years, it meant a lot to be able to show our appreciation for their support and partnership over the years.

The first celebration took place in Beijing on 29 October. Human resources directors and talent management senior executives gathered round for a discussion with Ms Guo Yue, Head of Human Resources at Taikang Asset Management.

As Ms Guo emphasised, behind every business competition is a talent war. And before focusing on talent acquisition, each company should put emphasis on building a great employee experience, in order to win this talent war.

Ms Guo has recently written a case study for Harvard Business Review. In her piece, she analysed the 7 winning elements of hiring top talent. This case study was recently announced as Harvard Business School’s HR case award winner.

At the event, Ms Guo also shared her insights on how organisations can invest in their talent to improve the competitiveness of their company in a talent driven industry.

The second celebration took place in Shanghai two days after, on 31 October. Senior clients spanning across both local and multi-national companies, from various industries, got together to listen to an inspiring presentation from Ms Annie Wang, Human Resources Vice President of Bayer Pharmaceuticals China and APAC. The impacts of digital innovation and organisational changes to businesses in China were explored.

Disruptive technologies and megatrends shaping the future of manufacturing were in particular of interest to our clients on the day.

In her presentation, Annie shared her insight on how this megatrend industry 4.0 affects business in China, as well as the impact of digital transformation on organisation and people and its impacts on HR functions.

“It is so wonderful to see many of our long standing clients, who have come a long way to support us in many ways” says Mark Steyn, Hudson’s Managing Director & CEO. “18 years is not a short period of time. We’ve come a long way to where we are now and we are proud of our history. But without all of [our clients], we would not be who we are, thank you!”

Since Hudson established its first China office, located in Shanghai, on 15 November 2000, followed by our first offices in Beijing and Guangzhou in 2007, it’s been an honour and a privilege to witness so many changes and advances in the local market.
